Navigate your settings

Depending on whether your organization is an X Series, Virtual Office Editions, or Virtual Office Classic customer, you can access some settings in the app itself, or via a browser page that opens from 8x8 Work for Desktop.

As an X Series or Virtual Office Editions user

You can configure the following settings from 8x8 Work for Desktop under Settings or, if enabled by your administrator, from your account settings browser page:

• Set up audio and video under Settings > Audio and video.
• Set up notifications under Settings > Notifications.
• Fine-tune the behavior of your presence status under Settings > Status.
• Import Google or Outlook contacts under Settings > Contacts.
• Set up call info pop-ups on inbound or outbound calls under Settings > Caller info pop-up.
• Sync with Google Calendar to view your scheduled meetings under Settings > Meetings > Calendar for meetings.
• Set up your Caller ID by clicking your profile image icon and selecting from the Caller ID drop-down.
• Edit the 8x8 Work keyboard shortcuts available to you under Settings > Keyboard shortcuts.
• Choose whether you want the app to launch automatically when you start your computer by enabling or disabling the slider next to Start Work on desktop login.
• Choose whether to always keep 8x8 Work for Desktop on top of your desktop by enabling or disabling the slider next to Keep Work always on top.

• Under Settings > Account settings, you can review your extension information and:
  • Choose when to automatically forward incoming calls.
  • Set your emergency address.
  • Set up voicemail and call recording.
  • Set up Internet fax.
  • Set your emergency address.

As a Virtual Office Classic user

You can configure the following settings from 8x8 Work for Desktop under Settings .

• Set up audio and video under Settings > Audio and video.
• Set up notifications under Settings > Notifications.
• Fine-tune the behavior of your presence status under Settings > Status.
• Import Google or Outlook contacts under Settings > Contacts.
• Set up call info pop-ups on inbound or outbound calls under Settings > Caller info pop-up.
• Sync with Google Calendar to view your scheduled meetings under Settings > Meetings > Calendar for meetings.
• Set up your Caller ID by clicking your profile image icon and selecting from the Caller ID drop-down.
• Edit the 8x8 Work keyboard shortcuts available to you under Settings > Keyboard shortcuts.
• Choose whether you want the app to launch automatically when you start your computer by enabling or disabling the slider next to Start Work on desktop login.
• Choose whether to always keep 8x8 Work for Desktop on top of your desktop by enabling or disabling the slider next to Keep Work always on top.

To access your account settings, download the 8x8 Account Settings app. To open the download page for the app, go to Settings > Account settings and click the download link.

• Under Settings > Account settings > My Services:
  • View subscription details.
  • Set up voicemail, call recording, and hold music.
  • Set up Internet fax.
• Choose when to automatically forward incoming calls under Settings > Account Settings > Call Forwarding.
• Set your emergency address under Settings > Account Settings > E911.
