Verify your emergency address

If you dial an emergency number, you can control how it is routed from your settings in 8x8 Work for Desktop; verify your emergency address to better alert emergency services to your location.

As an X Series or Virtual Office Editions user

If your organization is an X Series or Virtual Office Editions customer, you can access your settings under Settings . A few additional settings are available via Settings > Account settings.

To configure your emergency address:

  1. Go to Settings > Account settings to open your account settings in a browser page.
  2. Under Emergency address, open the drop-down menu to:
    • Set no emergency address.
    • Set your Site as your emergency address. You can find your Site on the same page under Basic Information.
    • Specify an emergency address. If you select this option, a prompt pops up.
      1. In the prompt, select your country and enter the desired address.
      2. When you are finished, save your address.
  3. When you are finished, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and save your changes.

As a Virtual Office Classic user

If your organization is a Virtual Office Classic customer, you can access some of your older settings under Settings > Account settings.

To configure your emergency address:

  1. Open your 8x8 Account Settings app to access your account settings.

    Note: If you do not have the 8x8 Account Settings app downloaded, go to Settings > Account settings and open the download page for the app.

  2. Under E911, you can:
    • View your current primary emergency service address.
    • Declare whether you are traveling outside the country. Note that emergency calling is not supported outside of your country.
    • Select from your available emergency service addresses.
    • Add more emergency service addresses.
    • Read emergency calling terms and conditions.
