Tour the 8x8 Meet interface

8x8 Meet offers an intuitive meeting interface that you can adapt to better suit your presentation or participation needs.

While in a meeting with 8x8 Meet, you have a variety of tools at your disposal to make your meetings more efficient. Share high-definition audio, video, and on-screen content, stream your meetings to a large audience, record meetings for future reference, and much more!

Meeting control Availability Description
(1)  / Expand/collapse Only apps Expand the app interface to navigate the rest of your app while in a meeting with 8x8 Meet, or collapse the app interface to use your entire app window for the meeting.
(2)  Mute/unmute All apps and browsers Mute or unmute your microphone. Unless disabled prior to joining a meeting from your app, by default, your microphone is enabled automatically when you join a meeting.
Click the arrow next to the Mute/unmute option to open a selection menu for your accessible audio devices.
(3) Start/stop camera All apps and browsers Share or stop sharing video from your camera. Unless disabled prior to joining a meeting from your app, by default, your video is switched on automatically when you join a meeting.
Click the arrow next to the Start/stop camera option to open a selection menu for your accessible video devices.
(4) Share screen All apps and desktop browsers

Depending on whether you are on desktop or mobile:
  • Desktop: Select between sharing your full screen, a specific window, or (if you are joining via some browsers) a specific browser tab.
  • Mobile: Share your entire screen.

    Note:
    -If you are sharing your screen via mobile, your full screen is shared automatically, and you cannot limit what portion of the screen is shared; other participants see everything you see on your mobile screen while you are sharing.
    -All notifications that show up onscreen are also visible to other participants.

The shared content you select is made visible to everyone in the meeting until you toggle the control again to stop sharing your screen.
(5)  Open/close chat All apps and browsers Open or close the meeting chat panel. If you join via desktop browser and are asked to enter a chat nickname, enter your name for easy identification by other participants.

(6)  Raise hand/Show reaction All apps and browsers

  • If you want to let a presenter know you want to contribute to a meeting without speaking over them, make yourself more visible by displaying a Raised hand indicator on your participant tile. If your question is answered before the presenter calls on you, you can toggle the control off by clicking it again.
  • If your team is discussing new ideas, and you want to briefly show your reaction to a particularly good idea or a surprising development without talking over the current speaker, you can also click the small arrow above the Raise hand option to open a menu of meeting reactions. Select either a reaction to show it on-screen and produce a brief sound effect to all participants or select the Toggle GIPHY menu and choose one of the available GIF from the GIPHY gallery to display it on your tile for a few seconds..
(7)  Tile view All apps and browsers

Toggle between two views of your meeting screen:
  • The default view, which displays the current speaker or presenter in a large central tile, and all other participants in a tile strip on the side of the screen.
  • The tile view, which displays all participants in tiles of equal size.
(8) Participants/Invite someone All apps and browsers
(on mobile, found under More actions)

View the full list of participants currently in the meeting, join or leave breakout rooms, and, if you have moderator rights in the meeting, manage participants and create or remove breakout rooms.

Want to invite more people to your meeting? Invite them ahead of time by sharing meeting details with participants regardless of user type, or, depending on your user type, invite them during the meeting:

  • As an 8x8 Work user: Invite participants by name (for company contacts), by dialing out to their phone or (from desktop only) SIP device during a meeting, or by copying meeting information to send to them.
  • As an 8x8 Meet user: Invite participants by dialing out to their phone or (from desktop only) SIP device during a meeting, or by copying meeting information to send to them.
(9)  More actions All apps and browsers Open to access advanced meeting controls and settings, including the ability to:
