Join Meetings

You can join an existing Virtual Office meeting from:

If you are logged in to the 8x8 Work for Mobile on your device, your device displays a notification to notify you of a meeting invitation in 8x8 Work.

From Inside the App

In the 8x8 Work for Mobile, you can join a meeting through SMS and IM, My Meetings, or Join Meeting.

To join a meeting via SMS and IM:

  1. Tap to open the main menu.
  2. From the main menu, select SMS and IM.
  3. Tap the conversation containing an IM invite to a Virtual Office meeting.
  4. In the IM invite, tap Start Meeting or Join to launch the meeting.

To join a meeting via My Meetings:

  1. Tap to open the main menu.
  2. From the main menu, select My Meetings.
  3. In the list, scroll to the meeting you want to join, and tap Start Meeting or Join next to it.
    The Virtual Office meeting launches.

To join a meeting via Join Meeting:

  1. Tap to open the main menu.
  2. From the main menu, select Join Meeting.
  3. At the prompt, enter the meeting ID that has been given to you by a participant of that meeting.
    The Virtual Office meeting launches.

From Outside the App

You can join a Virtual Office meeting through the (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar) app, directly or via notification, or through your email inbox.

Join Audio

Once you join the meeting, you can join meeting audio to hear and speak with other participants. To switch between your available audio channels at any time, tap during the meeting.

Depending on your calling network options under Call Mode, you join audio automatically using your data network at the start of the meeting, or receive a prompt to choose between Wi-Fi and cellular data. In Call Mode, you can select:

  • Always Ask (prompts you to choose between your selected data network and cellular dataWi-Fi data and cellular voice)
  • Use Data Network (always uses data network)
  • Use Cellular Voice (prompts you to choose between Wi-Fi data and cellular voice)
