Join meetings with 8x8 Meet
With 8x8 Meet, whether you are organizing a meeting or invited to one, you can join your meeting in a way that is most convenient and efficient for you.
- Join a meeting from 8x8 Work or 8x8 Meet.
- Join a meeting from your calendar app.
- Join a meeting via browser.
- Join a meeting via dial-in:
- Via phone for an audio-only experience.
- Via SIP device for audio and, if supported by your device, video.

Requirements to run 8x8 Meet
- Via browser on desktop: 8x8 Meet supports the following browsers and platforms on desktop:
- Recommended desktop browsers:
- Brave: Current version
- Google Chrome: Current version, and most recent previous version
- Microsoft Edge: Versions 79 and newer
- Opera: Current version
- Additional supported desktop browsers:
- Firefox: Current version, and most recent previous version
- Safari: Current version
- Recommended desktop browsers:
- Via 8x8 Work apps: If you install 8x8 Work for Desktop, or 8x8 Work for Mobile for iOS or Android, there are no additional requirements needed to join meetings via 8x8 Work.
- Via 8x8 Meet apps: If you install the 8x8 Meet app for desktop or mobile, there are no additional requirements needed to join meetings via 8x8 Meet.
8x8 Meet participant capacity
8x8 Meet supports up to 500 in-meeting participants (via desktop browser, desktop and mobile apps, and dial-in combined) who can present or contribute, and an unlimited number of spectators can observe the meeting via live streaming on YouTube.
Note: If the meeting has already reached its participant capacity when you try to join, you see a notification. If you need to join the meeting, reach out to the meeting organizer.
Join meetings from desktop or mobile apps
As an 8x8 Meet user accessing meetings via 8x8 Work or 8x8 Meet apps, you have the ability to join a meeting in your synced calendar from the comfort of your desktop app or the convenience of your mobile app.
Note: Calendar events with the following traits do not show up in your list of upcoming meetings in the app:
-Events without a valid meeting link for which the user doesn't have Edit permissions
-Events that are duplicates (events that have the same summary, meeting link, and start time, but a different ending time; only the event with the later ending time is shown)
-Events that are longer than 24 hours
-Events that ended over an hour ago
-Events that are over three days in the future
To join 8x8 meetings from your desktop or mobile app:
- In your desktop or mobile app, go to Meetings / .
- If you have synced your calendar, such as iCloud or Microsoft Exchange, you see a list of your upcoming calendar events.

If a calendar event does not have a meeting attached, it is marked with an Add meeting option; events with meetings already attached do not show this icon. To join a scheduled meeting, click or tap it from your list of meetings.
Note: Let's say you want to view video and content sharing via desktop, but are having issues with your speaker; you have the ability to join a meeting via video-only on desktop and use a phone for meeting audio!
-As any type of user: Next to the meeting, click the arrow next to Join to see the View Only option. Then, click View Only to view video and screen sharing via desktop, and dial in to the meeting using a mobile device or desk phone to access meeting audio.
-As an 8x8 Work user: If you have selected your desk phone or another phone as your calling device in 8x8 Work for Desktop, click Join to automatically join in View Only mode. When you join, you automatically receive a call on your calling device; answer the call to access meeting audio via the device.
- Once you join the meeting, your audio and video automatically connect to the default microphone, speaker, and camera of your computer or device. If the meeting is passcode-protected, enter the passcode provided by the meeting organizer.
To seamlessly flip a mobile meeting to desktop or web:
If you joined a meeting on the go via 8x8 Work for Mobile and have just reached your desktop, 8x8 Work for Desktop (or, if you log in via browser, 8x8 Work for Web) detects your active meeting on mobile and displays a banner. In the banner, click Join from here to flip your meeting from mobile to desktop or web!
To seamlessly flip a desktop or web meeting to mobile:
Let’s say you joined a meeting on your computer via 8x8 Work for Desktop or 8x8 Work for Web but need to step away from your desk for a while. 8x8 Work for Mobile detects your active meeting on desktop displays a banner. In the banner, tap Flip to flip your meeting from desktop to mobile!
Join meetings from your calendar
As an organizer or participant in an upcoming meeting with 8x8 Meet, you can join your meeting from its associated calendar event.
To join from your calendar:
- In your preferred calendar, such as Google Calendar, open the event details of the desired upcoming meeting that you scheduled or were invited to. From the calendar event details, you see a meeting URL.
- To join the meeting, click the URL to join the meeting via browser on desktop. If you are logged in to the desktop app, the meeting launches in your app instead. You are automatically connected to meeting audio and video using the default microphone, speaker, and camera of your computer or device. If the meeting is passcode-protected, enter the passcode provided by the meeting organizer. To identify yourself to other participants, enter your name.
Join meetings via browser
If you are invited to a meeting with 8x8 Meet via email, your email invitation contains the information you need to join a scheduled meeting.
As a guest without the app installed, you have access to 8x8 Meet via browser on your desktop computer or mobile device. You can also download the app and join meetings without signing in.
Note: If you join 8x8 meetings via browser, you cannot invite participants or record meetings.
To join via browser:
- As the time for a scheduled meeting approaches, open the email invite associated with it to view how you can join. From the email invite, you see a meeting URL.
- Click or tap the meeting URL. Depending on whether you are joining on desktop or on mobile, your experience joining the meeting is different:
- If you join via browser on your desktop computer: You open a pre-meeting screen where you can enter your name, copy the meeting URL to share with other participants, and select your audio and video devices for the meeting. When you are ready, click Join meeting.
- If you join via browser on mobile: You open a web page where you can choose to join the meeting using your already-installed app, install the app if you don’t have it, or join via web.
- To continue joining via browser on mobile: Tap Launch in web to open your mobile browser. You open a pre-meeting screen where you can enter your name and copy the meeting URL to share with other participants. When you are ready, tap Join meeting.
To join on your mobile app: Tap Join this meeting using the app and confirm. The app opens and prompts you to join the meeting. Choose whether to join the meeting in full mode or audio-only (“low bandwidth”) mode, and confirm to join.
Note: On iOS, if you join in full mode with video enabled, you can select between loudspeaker audio and the audio of a headset associated with your mobile device. To switch to ear-speaker audio, you must switch to audio-only mode under the More actions menu in the meeting interface.
To download the mobile app:
- As an 8x8 Work user: Tap Are you looking for 8x8 Work to open an 8x8 web page. From the page, select App Store Download or Google Play Download to open the 8x8 Work for Mobile download page in the appropriate store.
- As an 8x8 Meet user: Tap Download the app to open the 8x8 Meet download page in the App Store or Google Play Store.
Once you download and log in to the app, join the meeting.
- To continue joining via browser on mobile: Tap Launch in web to open your mobile browser. You open a pre-meeting screen where you can enter your name and copy the meeting URL to share with other participants. When you are ready, tap Join meeting.
- If you join via browser on your desktop computer: You open a pre-meeting screen where you can enter your name, copy the meeting URL to share with other participants, and select your audio and video devices for the meeting. When you are ready, click Join meeting.
- Once you join, if the meeting is passcode-protected, enter the passcode provided by the meeting organizer to access the meeting.
Join meetings via dial-in from phone or SIP device
When joining from your calendar or email invitation, you can choose to join a meeting by dialing in from your phone for an audio-only experience, or from your SIP device for audio and, if supported by your device, video.
To join via dial-in:
In the calendar event or email invite associated with an upcoming meeting with 8x8 Meet, review the dial-in numbers available for the meeting.
- If you dial in via phone:
- In the meeting invite, if you do not immediately see a number local to your country or region, open the option to view more dial-in numbers.
- Dial a phone number local to you, and listen for a meeting ID prompt.
- At the prompt, enter the meeting ID associated with the meeting. If the meeting is passcode-protected, you are also prompted to enter the passcode provided by the meeting organizer. You hear a confirmation, and you are connected to meeting audio.
- In the meeting invite, if you do not immediately see a number local to your country or region, open the option to view more dial-in numbers.
- If you dial in via SIP device:
- In the meeting invite, click the option to view more dial-in numbers, and scroll to the bottom of the list to view the meeting's SIP address.
- From your SIP device, dial the meeting's SIP address to join.
- If the meeting is passcode-protected, you are also prompted to enter the passcode provided by the meeting organizer. You hear a confirmation, and you are connected to meeting audio. If supported by your SIP device, you can also share and view meeting video, and view on-screen content shared by other participants.
- In the meeting invite, click the option to view more dial-in numbers, and scroll to the bottom of the list to view the meeting's SIP address.
