Join Meetings

You can join an existing Virtual Office meeting from:

If you are logged in to the 8x8 Work for Mobile on your device, your device displays a notification to notify you of a meeting invitation in 8x8 Work.

From Inside the App

In the 8x8 Work for Mobile, you can join a meeting through SMS and IM, My Meetings, or Join Meeting.

To join a meeting via SMS and IM:

  1. Tap to open the main menu.
  2. From the main menu, select SMS and IM.
  3. Tap the conversation containing an IM invite to a Virtual Office meeting.
  4. In the IM invite, tap Join to launch the meeting.

To join a meeting via My Meetings:

  1. Tap to open the main menu.
  2. From the main menu, select My Meetings.
  3. In the list, scroll to the meeting you want to join, and tap Join next to it.
    The Virtual Office meeting launches.

To join a meeting via Join Meeting:

  1. Tap to open the main menu.
  2. From the main menu, select Join Meeting.
  3. At the prompt, enter the meeting ID that has been given to you by a participant of that meeting.
    The Virtual Office meeting launches.

From Outside the App

You can join a Virtual Office meeting through the (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar) app, directly or via notification, or through your email inbox.

You can join a Virtual Office meeting on your mobile device using the (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar) mobile app. If you are invited to a Virtual Office meeting via email, you can view and join the meeting through (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar).

To join a meeting via (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar):

  1. Log in to your (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar) mobile app.
  2. Tap the desired meeting in the list.
  3. In the meeting description, tap the link.

    The Virtual Office meeting launches in the 8x8 Work for Mobile.

You can also set a notification to remind you of the meeting ahead of time.

To join a meeting via (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar) notification:

  1. In the meeting description, tap the reminder to edit it.
  2. In Edit Event, tap Add another notification to add a reminder.
    • in your device settings, make sure that Allow Notifications is switched on.
  3. When you receive the meeting notification on your device, swipe the alert to open (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar).
  4. In the meeting description that opens in (Undefined variable: 8x8VariablesSet.GoogleCalendar), tap the meeting link to join the Virtual Office meeting.

If you are invited to a Virtual Office meeting via email, you can view and join the meeting through the invitation in your email inbox.

To join a meeting via email invitation:

  1. Open the Virtual Office Meetings invitation in your email inbox.
  2. The invitation contains a prompt to confirm your availability, the URL and dial-in phone numbers that have been assigned to the meeting, and the option to join from an in-room video conferencing system.
  1. Using the given information, join the meeting.
    • If you click the URL, the Virtual Office Meetings landing page opens.
      The meeting automatically opens in the 8x8 Work for Desktop, or downloads the app for participants without 8x8 Work.
      • If the app does not download automatically, click Download manually.
        If you already have the application installed but see no prompt to launch the meeting, click Try Again.
      • If you want to join the meeting online without downloading the app, click Join Online.
    • If you choose to dial into the meeting, you can use any softphone or hard phone to dial in.

Join Audio

Once you join the meeting, you can join meeting audio to hear and speak with other participants. To switch between your available audio channels at any time, tap during the meeting.
