Remotely control a participant's desktop in meetings
If a participant joining from their desktop app needs something clarified, such as how to use a piece of software you are discussing, you can send a request to remotely control their desktop if you have joined via your desktop app or desktop browser. Once the participant accepts, they begin sharing their screen so that you can take remote control of their desktop; this allows you to answer the participant’s question and demonstrate the solution to all participants in the meeting.
To remotely control a participant's desktop in 8x8 Meet:
-
In a meeting, hover over More options on the participant’s video tile to open a menu.
Note: The desired participant must be joining via their desktop app, and you must be joining via your desktop app or desktop browser.

- Once the participant accepts the request, their screen becomes visible to everyone in the meeting, and you are able to move the cursor on their desktop to interact with windows and programs on their screen.
- Once you are finished, click More options on the participant’s video tile again to open a menu.
- From the menu, select Remote control again to stop controlling the participant's desktop. The participant can now choose to stop sharing their screen if needed.
