Install 8x8 Meetings for Salesforce

Install 8x8 Meetings for Salesforce as an admin

As a system administrator, you can install the 8x8 Meetings app in Salesforce:

  1. In the Salesforce login screen, enter your administrator’s credentials, then click Login and launch the Salesforce instance where you want to install the package.
  2. Click App Launcher > View All.

  3. Click Visit AppExchange.

  4. In the App Store that displays, search for 8x8 Meetings for Salesforce, then click the tile.

  5. At the bottom of the new window that displays, click Get It Now.

  6. At the bottom of the Log In to AppExchange window that displays, click Open Login Screen.
  7. In the Allow Access prompt, click Allow to be authenticated automatically to your Salesforce account.

  8. After you have successfully sign in, you verify the payment details on the AppExchange website:

    • Click Go to AppExchange Website.

    • You are redirected to the AppExchange website (for example, AppExchange website).
    • On the AppExchange website, under 8x8 Meetings for Salesforce, click Get it now.

    • In the Let’s Get Started authentication page, click Log In to sign into Traiblazer.me.

    • In the Traiblazer.me page, click Salesforce and then, use your Salesforce credentials to create a new Trailblazer.me account.

    • Use your Salesforce credentials to create a new Trailblazer.me account.
    • Select whether to install the package in Production or Sandbox.

    • Select the I have read and agree to the terms and conditions checkbox and click Confirm and Install.

    • ● In the Salesforce authentication page that opens, log in using the same credentials and continue the installation.

  9. In the Install 8x8 Meetings page that displays, click Install for all Users and then click Install.

  10. In the Approve Third-Party Access window that displays, select the acknowledgment checkbox to grant access to the third-party web sites, and then click Continue.

  11. When the installation is finished, click Done.

    You have now successfully installed the 8x8 Meetings package. You are redirected to the Install packages page and you should now see the 8x8 Meetings package installed.

Configure 8x8 Meetings for Salesforce

As a system administrator, you can:

Assign the 8x8 Meeting User permission set to users

The 8x8 Meetings User permission set gives 8x8 users access to various tools in Salesforce.

To assign the 8x8 Meetings User permission set to 8x8 users who will use the app:

  1. While on Salesforce, on the navigation menu of the Home page, under Administration, expand Users, and then click Permission Sets.

  2. On the Permission Sets page that opens, click 8x8 Meetings User permission to open this permission set.

  3. On the 8x8 Meetings User permission set page that opens, click Manage Assignments.

  4. Click Add Assignments.

  5. In the Select Users to Assign list, select all the users which can see the 8x8 Meeting Details section, then click Next > Assign > Done.

Update the Event layout to include the 8x8 Meeting Details section

As a system administrator, you can update the Event layout to include the 8x8 Meeting Details. You can control the size of the s-controls and Visualforce pages, and determine whether or not a label and scroll bars display.

To update the Event layout:

  1. On the main menu, click Object Manager, and then in the new page that displays, click the Event option in the Object Manager list.

  2. In the Event page that opens, on the navigation menu, click Page Layouts.

  3. In the Page Layouts page that opens, select one by one each page layout where you want to display the information of 8x8 Meetings.

  4. In the new page that opens, select the Fields panel in the Event layout list, then drag-and-drop the Section object under the Event detail section to create a new 8x8 Meeting Details section.

  5. In the Section Properties window that displays:

    • Enter 8x8 Meeting Details in the Section Name box.
    • Select 1-Column layout.
    • Click OK.

  6. Select Visualforce Pages in the page layout list, then drag-and-drop the EghtMeetingSessionEventDetails visualforce page into the 8x8 Meeting Details section.

  7. In the 8x8 Meeting Details section, double-click the EghtMeetingSessionEventDetails visualforce page.

  8. In the Visualforce Page Properties window that displays,

    • Enter 650 in the High (in pixels) box.
    • Select the Show scrollbars checkbox.
    • Click OK.

  9. Click Save to save the new layout.

    The 8x8 Meeting Details section event layout displays.

  10. Repeat steps 4 through 9 to update all the page layouts you are interested in.

Once the 8x8 Meetings app is installed in Salesforce, enable Salesforce for your organization in 8x8 Admin Console.

Uninstall 8x8 Meetings from Salesforce

As a System Administrator, you can uninstall the 8x8 Meetings app from Salesforce, if you no longer need it:

  1. Remove the 8x8 Meetings User Permission Set assignment from all the users:

    • While on Salesforce, on the navigation menu, under Administration, expand Users, and then click Permission Sets.
    • On the Permission Sets page, click 8x8 Meetings User permission to open this permission set.

    • On the 8x8 Meetings User permission set page, click Manage Assignments.

    • Select all the users from the list and click Remove Assignments > Remove.

  2. Remove the 8x8 Meeting Details section from the Event Page Layout:

    • On the main menu, click Object Manager, and then in the new page that opens, click the Event option in the Object Manager list.

    • In the Event page, on the navigation menu, click Page Layouts.

    • In the Page Layouts page that opens, click the layout(s) from where you want to uninstall the information of 8x8 Meetings.

    • In the layout page that opens, remove the 8x8 Meeting Details section from the layout, and click Save.

    • Open each layout, one by one, and remove the 8x8 Meeting Details section from the layout and click Save.

  3. Uninstall the 8x8 Meetings package:

    • On the navigation menu, on the left side of the page, under Platform Tools, expand Packaging and click Installed Packages.

    Note: You can enter Installed Packages in the Quick Find box, at the top of the navigation menu, on the left side of the page.

    • Select the 8x8 Meetings package and click Uninstall.

    • Confirm you want to uninstall the package, then click again Uninstall.

    The package will be uninstalled in a couple of minutes.
