Set up user provisioning integration

User provisioning integration (SCIM) allows you to automate employee onboarding & offboarding by having the users in your enterprise directory synchronized into the 8x8 Admin Console. User provisioning integration uses SCIM 2.0.

To configure the user provisioning integration:

  1. Go to Home > Identity and Security.

  2. Switch On the toggle to select the User Provisioning Integration (SCIM) to automate employee onboarding & offboarding by having the users in your enterprise directory synchronized into the 8x8 Admin Console.

    Note: If you switch Off the User Provisioning Integration (SCIM) toggle, the user updates you made under your Identity Provider will no longer be synchronized into the 8x8 Admin Console. In addition, this action clears your SCIM authentication token, too.

  3. Select the desired user provisioning in the list:

    • Microsoft Azure AD - to enable user provisioning via this integration.
    • Okta - to enable user provisioning via this integration.
    • SAML SSO provider - to enable user provisioning via this integration.

  4. In the bottom section, add the relevant information about the selected provider:

  5. User Advanced settings, choose which users you want to be retrieved:

    • All users - allows retrieving users created in the 8x8 Admin Console and those created in the Identity Provider, thereby allowing the Identity Provider to take control of the user profile if the login IDs map..
    • Only Users created by your identity provider - allows retrieving users created only in the Identity Provider.
  6. Save your settings.

By enabling user provisioning via Microsoft Azure AD integration all the user updates made in Microsoft Azure AD identity provider are automatically synchronized into 8x8 Admin Console.

To configure the user provisioning via Microsoft Azure AD integration:

  1. In the Identity and Security, page, under User Provisioning Integration (SCIM), select Microsoft Azure AD as user provisioning to display the 8x8 URL and 8x8 API Token field:

    • Click next to 8x8 URL to copy this URL to your clipboard. Paste this URL into the properties of your 8x8 Azure AD application.
    • Click the next to 8x8 API Token to copy this URL to your clipboard. Paste this API token into the properties of your 8x8 Azure AD application
  2. Save your settings.

By enabling user provisioning via Okta integration all the user updates made in OKTA identity provider are automatically synchronized into 8x8 Admin Console.

To configure the user provisioning via Okta integration:

  1. In the Identity and Security, page, under User Provisioning Integration (SCIM), select Okta as user provisioning to display the 8x8 URL and 8x8 API Token fields:
    • Click next to 8x8 URL to copy this URL to your clipboard. Paste this URL into the API Integration section of your 8x8 Okta application.
    • Click the next to 8x8 API Token to copy this API Token to your clipboard. Paste this API Token into the API integration section of your 8x8 Okta application.
  2. Save your settings.

Enabling user provisioning via SAML integration all the user updates made in SAML identity provider are automatically synchronized into 8x8 Admin Console.

To configure the user provisioning via another SCIM providerintegration:

  1. In the Identity and Security, page, under User Provisioning Integration (SCIM), select Other SMAMIL provider as user provisioning to display the 8x8 URL and 8x8 API Token fields:
    • Click next to 8x8 URL to copy this URL to your clipboard. Paste this URL into the properties of your SCIM provider.
    • Click the next to 8x8 API Token to copy this API Token to your clipboard. Paste Paste this API token into your SCIM system's properties.
  2. Save your settings.
