Configure Work Apps Settings
Administrators can set up default settings for the 8x8 Work apps across the organization by locking configurations, thus preventing users from making individual changes.
Features
- Audio Video: Allow users to manage calls using their headsets or configure the default noise suppression level for the microphone input. Allow a minimised window that remains on top to handle calls (mute/end) while the app is not in focus or has been minimized. Permit the enhanced microphone to detect when someone speaks softly or is far from the microphone and automatically adjust the voice level accordingly.
- Caller info pop-up: Allow users to encode a specific section of the caller info pop-up URL in base64 before displaying it in the system browser or to configure the default caller number format. Allow the app or web page specified in the URL to display when an incoming call is received, including from a warm transfer, made to an internal caller, or answered. Set up the default caller number format.
- Contacts: Activate contacts management in the MS Teams 8x8 Work app. Enable the application or the web page specified in the URL to pup up.
- General: Allow users to change their profile picture, enable users to benefit from the AI capabilities in chat conversations, and manage the visibility of incoming calls to the Ring Group and their logs.
- Mobile-only settings: Allow users to log out from the mobile app, modify their business hours or rate the mobile app, and allow users to make emergency calls via WiFi networks.
- Notifications: Allow users to customize their notifications or specify the start-up sound.
- Status: Allow users to set their status message and presence, including Do Not Disturb and Away options.
Edit the Work apps settings
With a single click, you can lock or unlock all settings to prevent 8x8 Work users from making individual changes or adjusting each setting separately.
To adjust the settings for 8x8 Work applications:
- Log in to 8x8 Admin Console.
- Go to Home > Work Apps Settings.
- On the Work Apps Settings page, set the default values for all users in your organization.
- Optional: Click Unlock all settings
to enable all 8x8 Work users to make their adjustments. Click Lock all settings
to prevent 8x8 Work users from making individual changes.
- Optional: You can restore the original default settings at any time by clicking Restore default values at the bottom of the page. However, be aware that this action will erase any modifications you have made to these settings.
- Click Save settings.
Customize default values for 8x8 Work apps
Admins can review which settings each 8x8 Work user can modify or adjust individually:

This feature encodes a specific part of the caller info pop-up URL in base64 before displaying it in the system browser. The encoded section corresponds to the value of the 'param' query parameter, which may include macros from the caller info pop-up URL. This functionality ensures privacy by preventing end users from viewing sensitive macro values, such as the caller's name or the callee's number. This setting is disabled by default. |

Pop-up also for internal calls |
8x8 Work displays the app or webpage specified in the URL when an incoming call is received or initiated to an internal caller. Ensure that the Pop-up for outbound calls setting is enabled to allow pop-ups when making a call to an internal contact. This setting is disabled by default. |

Pop-up when incoming call is answered |
8x8 Work displays the app or the webpage specified in the URL when an incoming call is answered. This setting is disabled by default. Note: If the setting is disabled, 8x8 Work displays the app when an incoming call is received. |

Pop-up for outbound calls |
8x8 Work displays the app or the webpage specified in the URL when a call is initiated. This feature applies to both internal and external calls. Ensure that the Pop-up also for internal calls setting is activated to enable pop-ups for internal calls. This setting is disabled by default. |

Pop-up also for warm transfers |
8x8 Work displays the app or the webpage specified in the URL for calls received via warm transfer. This setting is disabled by default. |
