By default, notifications for incoming chats, faxes, voicemails, and missed calls are enabled in the 8x8 Virtual Office desktop app. You can enable, disable, and fine-tune your notification preferences as needed.
Note: Based on your subscription, if you do not have access to some features (such as SMS or fax), notification settings for that feature do not show up for your Virtual Office extension.
To set up notifications:
|Allow desktop notifications||
Notifications for all communications in Virtual Office, except those that are overwritten by your operating system settings.|
Notes: As a Windows 10 or Mac user, you can further configure your Virtual Office notifications from your computer's system preferences:
|Incoming call alerts||Incoming call notifications on your computer when you route incoming calls through your desk phone. If this setting is disabled, you continue to see incoming call information on your desk phone, but not on your computer screen.|
Note: This setting can only be toggled and only takes effect when you have chosen to route incoming calls through your desk phone.
|Missed call notification||Visual notifications for incoming calls that timed out and went to voicemail, or were hung up before being answered.|
|Missed call sound alert||Sound notifications for incoming calls that timed out and went to voicemail, or were hung up before being answered.|
|Voicemail notification||Visual notifications for voicemails you receive.|
|Voicemail sound alert||Sound notifications for voicemails you receive.|
|Chat notification||Visual notifications for IM messages you receive from Virtual Office contacts.|
|Chat sound alert||Sound notifications for IM messages you receive from Virtual Office contacts.|
|SMS notification||Visual notifications for SMS messages you receive from external contacts.|
|SMS sound alert||Sound notifications for SMS messages you receive from external contacts.|
|Fax notification||Visual notifications for faxes you receive.|
|Fax sound alert||Sound notifications for faxes you receive.|
