8x8 Click2Pop

8x8 Click2Pop is an app for Windows and Mac that opens a browser URL during an incoming call. The URL can include the Caller ID number or name. Choose from predefined URLs to display caller information from LinkedIn, Facebook, Google, and more, or specify a custom URL. Choose one of the pre-configured searches below, or create your own custom search:

How Click2Pop Works

Requirements

Note: The person installing the plug-in must have administrator rights to the computer.

Installing Click2Pop

For Windows

  1. Go to the 8x8 Click2Pop download page for Windows, and click Download.
  2. Locate the file, and double-click on it to install. A Windows Unknown Publisher warning pops up.
  3. Click Run to proceed.
  4. Follow the 8x8 Click2Pop Setup Wizard to complete the installation.
  5. You see a message indicating that 8x8 Click2Pop has been successfully installed.

For Mac

  1. Go to the 8x8 Click2Pop download page for Mac, and click Download.
  2. Locate the file and initiate the install.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions for installation.
  4. Enter your administrator credentials to authorize the installation.
  5. Click Close to complete the installation.
  6. You see a message indicating that 8x8 Click2Pop has been successfully installed.

Launching and Configuring Click2Pop

For Windows

  1. Locate and double-click the 8x8 Click2Pop shortcut on your desktop to launch the application.
    OR
    Select 8x8 Click2Pop from the Windows Start menu.
  2. The plug-in launches, allowing you to set up outbound dialing using the 8x8 Web Dialer.

    You may proceed to install the 8x8 Web Dialer extensions from here. For details, refer to 8x8 Web Dialer.
  3. Click the Login tab.
  4. Enter your 8x8 username and password to log in.
  5. The plug-in runs in the background, and restarts when your computer is restarted. You can verify the plug-in is running by looking in the Microsoft Windows system tray in the bottom-right corner of your computer desktop.
  6. To configure Click2Pop for inbound calling, click the Inbound calls tab and follow the instructions below.

    1. Select a website for your inbound call search. Your selection is active immediately; there is no need to save.
    2. Select the Automatically open the web page check box to enable automatic lookup and browser.
    3. From the drop down list, choose whether to trigger the browser pop by receiving a call, or by answering a call.
    4. Select the Display a desktop alert when I receive a call check box.

For Mac

  1. Use the launch pad to start the 8x8 Click2Pop application.
  2. Once started, the application icon appears in the menu bar at the top of the desktop.
  3. Click on the application icon and select Configure from the application menu.
  4. Enter your 8x8 username and password. Select Remember Password and Launch on startup if preferred. Press the Login button to continue.

  5. To install the browser extensions, select Browser Extensions from the application menu.
  6. You may proceed to install the 8x8 Web Dialer extensions from here. For details, refer to 8x8 Web Dialer.

Using Click2Pop

  1. Place a test call to your 8x8 Virtual Office telephone number from another phone.
  2. You see the web page pop from the selected web page. If the desktop alert is enabled, you receive an alert.

Creating Custom Screen Pop Searches

8x8 Click2Pop allows you to create your own custom screen pop search within the listed websites or with a custom URL.

  1. Select the Customize check box to create your search. The URL and variables are now exposed for you to modify as needed.
  2. You can also build your own search by selecting Custom from the drop-down list of available web page options, and selecting the Customize check box.
  3. Enter your desired URL as your starting point. Your custom URL remains active in Click2Pop until you change it. We recommend you save the custom URL and variable in a safe place for future reference.
