Install Integration with Microsoft as a User

Before installing the integration, take note of the version you want to install.

Important: In order for integration with Microsoft to function, ensure that you are using a version that is compatible with your current version of the Virtual Office desktop app:
-For version 6 of the Virtual Office desktop app, download the respective plug-ins for meetings with Outlook, for calling with Outlook, and for calling with Skype for Business.
-For version 5 of the Virtual Office desktop app, download version 5.0.10 of the Microsoft Integration plug-in, which includes meetings and calling with Outlook, and calling with Skype for Business.

Before You Install

Before installing integration with Microsoft, perform the following steps:

  1. Close Outlook and Skype for Business on your PC.
  2. Make sure that you have installed the Virtual Office desktop app. If you do not have it, download the application for Windows or for Mac.

Version Compatibility

Compatibility between the Outlook Virtual Office Meetings plug-in and the Virtual Office desktop app is as follows:

Note: If you have previously installed version 5.0.10 of the 8x8 Microsoft Integration plug-in, it continues to work with version 6 of the Virtual Office desktop app. However, if you try to install version 5.0.10 of the plug-in with version 6 of the app already on your computer, you are prevented from installing the Microsoft Integration plug-in.

Important: At this time, only organizations that are new Skype for Business customers are upgraded to version 6 of the Virtual Office desktop app, and must install the Skype for Business Virtual Office plug-in. If your organization is an existing Skype for Business customer, you continue to use version 5 of the Virtual Office desktop app, and version 5.0.10 of the Microsoft Integration plug-in.

Install the Integration

Installing requires you to download the setup file, and follow the installation process.

To install integration with Microsoft:

  1. Based on which version of the Virtual Office desktop app you are running, download:
  2. Depending on whether you have administrator rights on your computer, your installation experience is different:
  3. Go through the installation process. If you are installing version 5.0.10 of the Microsoft Integration plug-in, you are prompted to select the package components to install from the following options:

    Important: This feature is only available in version 5.0.10 of 8x8 Microsoft Integration, compatible with version 5.9 or earlier of the Virtual Office desktop app.

  4. Once you have selected the components according to what you require or have installed, continue through the installer. You may need to restart Outlook and/or Skype for Business to complete the installation.
