8x8 integration with Microsoft requires you to log in via the Virtual Office desktop app. User authentication is handled via the Virtual Office desktop app, which is compatible with SAML and Google Single Sign-On.
To access 8x8 integration with Microsoft, you must be logged in to the Virtual Office desktop app.
Important: In order for integration with Microsoft to function, ensure that you are using a version that is compatible with your current version of the Virtual Office desktop app:
-For version 6 of the Virtual Office desktop app, download the respective plug-ins for meetings with Outlook, for calling with Outlook, and for calling with Skype for Business.
-For version 5 of the Virtual Office desktop app, download version 5.0.10 of the Microsoft Integration plug-in, which includes meetings and calling with Outlook, and calling with Skype for Business.
Depending on which version of integration with Microsoft you are using, you may need to log in to some components manually:
To log in to plug-ins for Outlook:
If your user profile is set up to use Single Sign-On to log in with your existing company credentials:
Important: Version 6.0.0 of the plug-in contains an issue that can prevent Single Sign-On from working properly; in order to log in as a user enabled for Single Sign-On,
To log in to the plug-in for Skype for Business:
Regardless of which plug-in you are using, upon opening Skype for Business, if you are also logged in to the Virtual Office desktop app, you automatically have access to 8x8 calling with Skype for Business.
