Install Skype for Business Integration as a User (Version 5.0.10)

As a Skype for Business user, you are able to install integration with Virtual Office to enhance your calling experience.

To prepare for installation:

  1. Log in to the 8x8 Virtual Office desktop app on your Windows PC.
  2. Close Outlook and Skype for Business.
  3. If you are a new user, you are ready to install the integration. If you are using an older version of the integration, you must also uninstall your existing version of the plug-in before installing the latest version.

To install integration with Skype for Business:

  1. Log in to the 8x8 Virtual Office desktop app on your Windows PC.
  2. Close Outlook and Skype for Business.
  3. Download version 5.0.10 of the Microsoft Integration plug-in (compatible with version 5 of the Virtual Office desktop app)

    Important: At this time, only organizations that are new Skype for Business customers are upgraded to version 6 of the Virtual Office desktop app, and must install version 6.1.1 of the Skype for Business Virtual Office plug-in. If your organization is an existing Skype for Business customer, you continue to use version 5 of the Virtual Office desktop app, and can use versions 6.1.1 or 5.0.10 of the Microsoft Integration plug-in.

  4. Install the downloaded file.

    Note: If you do not have administrator rights on your computer, consult your administrator for assistance.

  5. You are prompted to select the package components to install from the following options:

  6. Log in to Skype for Business as normal. If you have the Virtual Office desktop app open, Skype for Business is ready to use Virtual Office as a dialer for calling.
