Note: 8x8 Work and Engage for Salesforce is currently only available to Beta customers.
Install the 8x8 Work and Engage integration for Salesforce
When using the 8x8 Work and Engage integration for Salesforce for the first time, you must first add the 8x8 Integrations extension from the Chrome web store.
To add the extension:
- Add the extension directly using this link.
-Or-
Go to the Chrome web store, and search for <8x8>. Select 8x8 Integrations from the list of results. - Click Add to Chrome.
- On the confirmation dialog, select Add extension.
A confirmation banner displays confirming the extension has been added to Chrome. You can manage your browser extensions by clicking Extensions in the Tools menu.
Required permissions
You must allow the following permissions for the integration to work as expected:
Allow pop-ups and redirects
- Go to you browser Settings > Privacy and security > Pop-ups and redirects.
- Click Add and enter <https://cloud8.8x8.com> and Salesforce to the list of allowed sites.
Chrome automatically saves these settings.
Note: This may not be required if your default settings is set to Allow all.
Allow third-party cookies
- Go to you browser Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies.
- Click Add and enter <https://cloud8.8x8.com> and Salesforce to the list of allowed sites.

Ensure that a pop-up blocker is not preventing new tabs from opening from Salesforce.
Set the correct field-level security
The 8x8 Integration for Salesforce requires access to certain fields within Salesforce. To ensure correct access, see this support article.
Add Salesforce trusted domains
You may need to add 8x8 as a trusted domain within Salesforce.
To add 8x8 as a trusted domain within Salesforce:
- Go to Setup.
- Type Trusted URLs in the search box and select it.
- Click New Trusted URL.
- Add cloud8.8x8.com to the allowlist.
- Select the iframe-src checkbox.
- Click Save.
Check API permissions
In order for the integration to function, ensure the API permission is enabled for the required user profiles.
To enable the API permission:
- Go to Setup.
- Type Profiles in the search box and select it.
- Select the user profile you wish to apply the API permission to, and click Edit.
- Under Administrative Permissions of the user profile, ensure the API Enabled check box is selected.
