Install ADFS

ADFS is installed on the Windows server as a server role and does not require any additional download. It is added through the Add Roles and Features wizard from Server Manager.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have domain administrator rights to a supported version of Windows Server:

• Windows Server 2012

• Windows Server 2012 R2

• Windows Server 2016

• Windows Server 2019

Installation steps

1. Open Server Manager and select Manage. Then select Add Roles and Features to open the installation wizard.
2. For the Installation Type, select Role-based or Feature-based installation.

3. For the Server Roles , check Active Directory Federation Services. No other roles or features are required.

4. Complete the wizard and verify the installation is successful.
